I am very thankful to be part of a church that takes a Sunday out of each year to celebrate what the Lord is doing among the middle and high schoolers in its youth ministry! As a sophomore in high school, I was given my first opportunity to preach before my church on a Youth Sunday, and I am very grateful that church took the time to invest in me and provide me with such a practical and meaningful opportunity. It helped me to explore a potential calling to pastoral ministry, and in later years, it helped to confirm that calling the Lord placed upon my life. Over the past seven years, it has been one of my highest joys to work with young men within our church, teaching them how to study God’s Word, to crystallize its concepts through thoughtful illustrations, and to call their fellow believers to a real-life response through preaching. In that time, this church has produced three new preachers of God’s Word who have continued to bless this local body and have stayed connected to the church even after venturing into adulthood. May the Lord use this Youth Sunday and many more to come to continue His work of calling, equipping, and confirming the next generation of His church.
