If I asked you, “What Old Testament passage is quoted the most in the New Testament?”—what would you guess? Maybe, “Honor your father and mother”? Or, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength”?
Would it surprise you to learn that the most quoted passage is actually Psalm 110?
This psalm is quoted or alluded to around 26 times in the New Testament, and for good reason. Psalm 110 gives us a powerful glimpse into what happened after Jesus’ resurrection and ascension when His earthly ministry ended and His heavenly reign began. The dust of earth now sits at the right hand of God. Christ didn’t simply return home to the Father. He returned as the victorious King, the great High Priest, having conquered sin and death.
Even when everything around us feels chaotic, even when your own life seems like it’s shaken by circumstances, this psalm gives us reason to rest. It reminds us that Jesus is reigning, and that God is still working all things together for His glory and for our good.
Psalm 110 should stir our hearts to cry out daily, “Come, Lord Jesus.” Christ is the thread that ties all of Scripture together. And in this passage, we are invited to dive deep into His beauty and majesty, deeper than we could ever fully comprehend. So, keep looking to Jesus—the great Priest-King who reigns and intercedes for us forever.
