“Our Purpose, Our Business”

A man approached the front of a business to go in and purchase an item when he realized it was no longer open.  On the front door, there was a sign that said. “Gone out of business. Didn’t know what our business was.”  This speaks to our life directly in that if we do not know what our business is here as a Christian and as a Church it will not be long that we too will go out of business.  Worse, stay in business selling something we were never meant to sell or called to sell.  C.S. Lewis brought it down to one sentence as to what our purpose and business is.

“The glory of God, and, as our only means to glorifying Him, the salvation of human souls, is the real business of life.”

In short, our purpose is to glorify God and our business is the souls of people to direct them to the Savior for the saving of their souls.  Dear church is this your business and purpose in life?  If not, let us stop and turn to Jesus and refocus our purpose and business on Jesus.  If not we will fail in this life and the life to come.  Billy Sunday said this about failure.  “More men fail through lack of purpose than lack of talent.”  Pastor Mark
